The vineyard is located in the village of Gemisti in the Municipality of Alexandroupolis. It was planted in 1998 and covers an area of 32 acres. The vineyard grows French grape varieties, such as Merlot, Syrah, the Hamburg Muscat variety, and the Greek Limnio and Roditis. No Thracian or Hebrides grape varieties are grown in the vineyard.
The producer produces around 5,000 bottles and boxes of wine each year under the trade name, «Rigas Wine.» The white, red and semi-sweet wines produced each year are sold throughout Evros, at the local market, in restaurants and to friends and acquaintances of the producer.
From the marc, 200 liters of tsipouro with or without anise are also produced each year. The producer also produces honey.
At Mr. Rigas Vineyards, wine is produced in the traditional way, directly from first-pressed grape juice, without chemical or other treatment. The "lambing" of the wine is done by slow, natural sedimentation, without the use of filters and fining agents that would alter its rich flavor. The packaging of the wines is done by natural flow, without the use of pumps or machinery, so that the wine maintains its freshness.
"Rigas Wine" is a light wine, mild in taste, with an intense fruity aroma.
