Hadjisavva Vineyards
The vineyard is located northwest of Alexandroupolis. The first installation of the vineyard took place in 2001. Today, the winegrower cultivates a total of 125 acres in various areas of Evros. The Thracian variety Mavroudi dominates the vineyard. Greek grape varieties are also cultivated, such as Malagouzia, Assyrtiko, Vidiano and French varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.
The producer, Mrs. Hatzisavva, is a Biologist and has attended courses in Oenology and Viticulture at an Austrian university. As a winegrower, she follows organic cultivation methods, carefully selecting the grapes she uses as raw material for her wine. She sprays her vines with natural extracts that she makes from nettle, mullein and chamomile, which she collects herself from the surrounding hills.
The producer produces several bottles of wine every year under the trade names "Alkyoni", "Pachni" and "Matina". These are dry red and rosé wines respectively. Its wines are sold throughout Greece while part of the production is exported to central Europe.
The winemaker has 200 sq m winemaking facilities, a winery that accepts visits for tours of the site and tasting of the wines produced.
